The launch of chatGPT made artificial intelligence (AI), and in particular generative AI, the hottest topic in the market. Everybody has an opinion about it, ranging from starstruck awe to existential fear. Industry, construction, and infrastructure are no exceptions; digitalisation is ubiquitous, and with digital data comes the opportunity to use AI.

Amid the turbulence of the stern wave behind chatGPT, it is easy to lose sight of the wide range of powerful tools in the AI toolbox. In this talk, Elin will guide us through the turbulence and explain how mathematics and statistics applied to large amounts of data can automate tasks and processes, disrupt business models, redefine search and research, and fuel innovation of new products and services. All this without posing a fundamental threat to most jobs. She then invites the audience to reflect on the flipsides of artificial intelligence, such as responsibility, discriminatory practices, cyber security, and sustainability.

We continue to embrace new technologies, all the way from scripts, automation, apps, clouds, to artificial intelligence. The benefits at the first glance all seem clear - promise to save time and drive efficiency. However, the reality often doesn't align with these expectations. Delays, overbudgets, and outdated business models still hinder progress. To address these challenges, it's essential to openly discuss the issues and seek solutions together. I believe that redefining collaboration across all stakeholders - owners, designers, contractors, suppliers, operators, and more - can unlock real value for everyone. But transformation requires us to rethink our approach, share risks, and move away from conservative models that have held us back. Only then can we truly transform the industry.

All stakeholders in the AEC/FM market of today could benefit from joining perspectives. BIM and cloud collaboration holds important keys to sustainability, economy and transparency as design driving factors. The outcome could be better end results, faster, less expensive and in shorter time. Technology has been available for over 20 years by now, so what is missing and is there anything that could be done easily about this? This session will explore and showcase the low hanging fruits; benefits that are already ready to be harvested, what the deliveries should be and the demands driving this should look like.

Speaker: Michael Thydell, Ramboll Sweden AB
Stage: Live in Stockholm
Room:
Studio 9

The present will walk you through;

1. The Hidden Cost of Getting It Wrong
We begin by highlighting the core challenge: why building regulations are still difficult to apply in practice — and what the cost of late-stage errors really is for projects, teams, and timelines.
2. Turning Rules into Real-Time Guidance
We’ll show how AI can make building codes part of the design workflow, not an afterthought. Using AI–BOB, regulations become automated, understandable, and available where and when they’re needed — directly in tools like Revit.
3. Smarter Projects, Happier Teams
Finally, we explore the impact: fewer mistakes, higher quality, and less friction across the project team. With examples from real use cases, we’ll show how AI is already helping teams deliver better results — and what’s coming next.

Speaker: Elin Mårtensson & Petter Wallberg, AI Bob
Stage: Live in Stockholm
Room: Studio 8

15:15 - 15.40 CET

Parallel Breakout Sessions

We live in digital times and data has become central to our professional endeavours in every way. However, the interconnected data and systems we rely on have never been under so much attack. Sadly, today’s reliance on data and systems hasn’t kept pace with our ability to protect them and businesses are facing an exponentially increasing threat.

In this session Andy Compton, CEO and Principal Consultant from leading cyber security Consultancy, Cortida explains how the perfect storm of cyber risk has occurred, the influence of criminality, what common errors of thinking have brought businesses to their knees and how emerging risks such as AI will bring even greater risks in the future.

Andy will also explore why the right security baselines are important and how to identify them, how changing expectations are driving regulation and how increasing demands of customers will focus thinking on security projects and formal alignment with security standards moving forward.

Andy’s career in cybersecurity was preceded with 15 years in the design, build and operate space and as such Andy is well placed to combine many years of understanding, experience and vision to bring informed insights on the challenges that will continue to plague business for many years to come and how to defend against them.

As Sustainability and AI becomes a natural part of the design and make processes and as we use more and more digital tools to improve our workflows, is NOW the time to also look at our business models? How much innovation is possible, are customers ready for a more value-based pricing? Or what alternatives do we have?

Moderator: Jens Kollserud, CEO at Symetri
Stage: Live in Stockholm
Room: Studio 4

As sustainability regulations evolve, integrating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into early-stage decision-making is more critical than ever. The UK, for instance, has unique requirements, with the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard placing increasing emphasis on in-use emissions reporting. Sweden, for example, mandates LCA as part of building regulations, affecting early material choices—such as whether to build with steel or wood. Elsewhere in Europe, frameworks like the EU Taxonomy are beginning to shape sustainability in design and construction.

This roundtable will explore how BIM workflows can help designers, architects, and stakeholders make informed decisions that support long-term sustainability. With the increasing focus on carbon tracking and meeting industry expectations, we will discuss:

  • How BIM enables better data reuse for sustainability insights across a project’s lifecycle
  • When and how key material decisions are made, considering factors such as cost, availability, carbon impact, and regional regulations
  • The role of Digital Twins in embodied carbon tracking, refurbishment strategies, and long-term emissions monitoring
  • How evolving frameworks and standards are shaping sustainability data use in design and construction

This interactive discussion will allow for an open exchange of ideas, focusing on practical solutions and real-world insights as to how to seamlessly integrate LCA and sustainability into BIM workflows and to support informed decision-making from design to operation.

Will AI be an important component in finding the right designs from a sustainability perspective? What does this require from a competence shift? What kind of effort will it require to truly understand the building processes – in order to prompt correctly. In what other areas will AI help or should we question the role of AI moving forward?

This presentation explores how Skanska is advancing project delivery through BIM by unlocking the full potential of information within models. With quantities and survey data at the core, the focus is on creating efficient workflows, overcoming challenges, and delivering a better product to end client and society. To navigate through industry various frameworks and standards and to address project needs, we developed our own package of requirements, KMI, which has become our solution for improving processes and ensuring successful project execution. However, requirements alone are not enough. People play central role in achieving the desired results. Collaboration, understanding, and the ability to adapt are key to making model-based workflows successful and ensuring better project outcomes.

For the past 25 years, Gehl has been leveraging human-centric data to gain deeper insights into life in public spaces across more than 350 cities worldwide. In this session Adam will share some of the methodologies they use, and the tangible impact data-driven approaches have had on urban design, decision-making, and, most importantly, people. Adam will present three concrete case studies demonstrating how data has been instrumental in shaping projects globally. One example will illustrate how layering socio-demographic data with observational insights from public spaces provided a deeper understanding of urban life in Copenhagen—revealing hidden potentials and strengthening decision-making for clients. Additionally, he will discuss experiences in engaging diverse user groups through digital tools, enabling a richer understanding of the subjective, experiential qualities of urban spaces.
