Artificial intelligence beyond the current turbulence

The launch of chatGPT made artificial intelligence (AI), and in particular generative AI, the hottest topic in the market. Everybody has an opinion about it, ranging from starstruck awe to existential fear. Industry, construction, and infrastructure are no exceptions; digitalisation is ubiquitous, and with digital data comes the opportunity to use AI.

Amid the turbulence of the stern wave behind chatGPT, it is easy to lose sight of the wide range of powerful tools in the AI toolbox. In this talk, Elin will guide us through the turbulence and explain how mathematics and statistics applied to large amounts of data can automate tasks and processes, disrupt business models, redefine search and research, and fuel innovation of new products and services. All this without posing a fundamental threat to most jobs. She then invites the audience to reflect on the flipsides of artificial intelligence, such as responsibility, discriminatory practices, cyber security, and sustainability.

Speaker: Elin Hauge, Futurist and AI Expert
Stage: Live on stage in Oslo. Streamed to London and Stockholm

PARALLEL BREAKOUT SESSIONS

We continue to embrace new technologies, all the way from scripts, automation, apps, clouds, to artificial intelligence. The benefits at the first glance all seem clear - promise to save time and drive efficiency. However, the reality often doesn't align with these expectations. Delays, overbudgets, and outdated business models still hinder progress. To address these challenges, it's essential to openly discuss the issues and seek solutions together. I believe that redefining collaboration across all stakeholders - owners, designers, contractors, suppliers, operators, and more - can unlock real value for everyone. But transformation requires us to rethink our approach, share risks, and move away from conservative models that have held us back. Only then can we truly transform the industry.

Speaker: Marius Jablonskis, Norconsult
Stage/Room: Live on stage Oslo. Streamed to the digital audience

Oslo Science Park has a digital twin implemented in the beginning of 2024. What benefits does the digital twin provide in daily operation and management processes.  How does Oslotech use the Bim model and what is the plan for further development.

Keynote: Human-Centric Data in Action: Shaping Urban Spaces for People to thrive

For the past 25 years, Gehl has been leveraging human-centric data to gain deeper insights into life in public spaces across more than 350 cities worldwide. In this session, Liselott Stenfeldt, Partner & Head of R&D at Gehl, will share some of the methodologies they use, and the tangible impact data-driven approaches have had on urban design, decision-making, and, most importantly, people. Liselott will present three concrete case studies demonstrating how data has been instrumental in shaping projects globally. One example will illustrate how layering socio-demographic data with observational insights from public spaces provided a deeper understanding of urban life in Copenhagen—revealing hidden potentials and strengthening decision-making for clients. Additionally, she will discuss experiences in engaging diverse user groups through digital tools, enabling a richer understanding of the subjective, experiential qualities of urban spaces.
