Keynote: The impact of climate change
The impact of climate change is many times difficult to grasp. To help us connect to the future in a more urgent and intimate way we have invited Andri Snaer Magnasson who is an Icelandic author, filmmaker, and environmental evangelist. He will share his perspectives from the story Okjökull glacier in Iceland, the first glacier lost to climate change. Andri combines science, history, and mythology to explore big issues. Right now, he’s collaborating with Icelandic architect Arnhildur Pálmadóttir on using molten lava as a sustainable building material.

BREAKOUT SESSION
This talk explores how team awareness and adaptability drive success in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Effective project execution depends on the ability of teams to adapt their communication and collaboration strategies to meet diverse challenges, particularly during project meetings. By examining the nuances of different meeting styles—coordination, cooperation, and collaboration—as well as the dynamics of virtual, in-person, and hybrid settings, this presentation offers insights for setting up project teams and optimizing meetings across project phases.
Speaker: Kristine Slotina, Nordic Office of Architecture
Stage/Room: Live in Oslo. Streamed to the digital audience.
Explore how LINK Architecture is driving the development of circular architecture to meet the climate challenges of the construction sector. Through examples such as the Arctic Centre of Energy in Skellefteå, we show how reuse, future-proof materials and innovative processes can create sustainable, aesthetic and economic solutions. Learn concrete strategies to integrate reuse into all project phases and ensure competitiveness in a changing industry.
Speaker: Lisa Säfsten & Elias Fransson, LINK Arkitektur

This presentation will delve into the collaborative efforts undertaken during the refurbishment and extension of the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Building at the University of Worcester, showcasing how the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools like Revit, Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems, and point cloud technology can lead to more efficient and intelligent refurbishment processes.
The University of Worcester aimed to utilize BIM Level 2 standards to ensure seamless data transfer from Revit 3D collaborative models to their CAFM system. This approach facilitated effective facilities management post-handover. The project also leveraged point cloud technology to assist subcontractors and monitor site progress, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the construction phase.
Attendees will gain valuable insights into the benefits of integrating design and facilities management tools, learning how such integration can lead to smarter refurbishment strategies, improved collaboration among stakeholders, and enhanced lifecycle management of facilities. This case study exemplifies a holistic approach to refurbishment projects, where technology and collaboration converge to achieve optimal outcomes for educational institutions.

PARALLEL BREAKOUT SESSIONS
We continue to embrace new technologies, all the way from scripts, automation, apps, clouds, to artificial intelligence. The benefits at the first glance all seem clear - promise to save time and drive efficiency. However, the reality often doesn't align with these expectations. Delays, overbudgets, and outdated business models still hinder progress. To address these challenges, it's essential to openly discuss the issues and seek solutions together. I believe that redefining collaboration across all stakeholders - owners, designers, contractors, suppliers, operators, and more - can unlock real value for everyone. But transformation requires us to rethink our approach, share risks, and move away from conservative models that have held us back. Only then can we truly transform the industry.
